Lorettus A. Strout of Lake street, Auburn, a pressman at the Lewiston Evening Journal, was struck and knocked to the floor of the press room by a flying roll as the paper was going to press, Saturday evening. The roll had been placed in the press by Mr. Strout, himself, it was stated. The huge roll, weighing about 900 pounds, flew from the machine and one end struck Mr. Strout on the chest. His clothing was caught on the spinning metal and ripped from his body but he sustained no other external injury than a slight scratch. Mr. Strout suffered temporarily from shock. He was attended by Drs. Scannell and Donovan. Later he was taken to his home where it was found that he had sustained an injury to his abdomen that is considered of a serious nature.

The Lewiston-Auburn Transit Committee is soliciting advance purchase of passenger trips on the proposed “Mall-to-Mall” and other planned shuttle bus runs, according to Joe Kott, transit coordinator. The “Mall-to-Mall” service would provide seven daily shuttle bus runs, Monday through Friday, to the Auburn Mall area, Auburn Plaza and Central Maine Technical College. These areas will be linked to the Lewiston and Promenade malls by four morning bus runs. However, no shuttle bus service will be initiated unless 10 percent of the project’s 5,640 monthly passenger trips are sold in advance, Kott said.
