The L/A Fighting Spirit’s struggles continued Saturday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee as they dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to the New England Stars. The loss extends their losing streak to three games and they fall to 16-3-1 overall.

After a scoreless first period, the Fighting Spirit had a parade to the penalty box in the second period, taking seven penalties. The Stars finally capitalized with a little more than three minutes remaining in the period when Steve Crocker notched his fourth goal of the season the power play. Tim Paige picked up the lone assist.

New England was 1-for-9 on the man advantage while L/A finished the game 0-for-4.

Simon Corriveau put the Fighting Spirit on the board 12:38 into the third period with Colby Siering and Brett Bittner assisting on the goal.

The game remained 1-1 as the teams needed overtime to settle the deadlock. Playing 3-on-3, Brian Glover found the back of net for the Stars (10-6-1) with John Krapian setting the goal up just a minute into the extra frame.

Devyn Levesque made 25 saves in New England’s net while Claes Endre turned aside 20 shots in the losing effort.

The Fighting Spirit head to Salem, N.H., on Friday to face the East Coast Minutemen for a 2:20 p.m. puck drop. The teams will meet again next Sunday at the Colisee at 2 p.m.
