FARMINGTON — Police said four University of Maine at Farmington students are accused of holding an underage drinking party and are charged with furnishing a place for minors to drink alcohol Friday night.

About 15 people attended the party, Farmington police officer Derrick Doucette said Monday.

Police responded to a loud noise and an underage drinking complaint at 291 High St. When they arrived, a 19-year-old man was walking out of the residence with a bag of wine and said he was going to put it in his vehicle, Doucette said.

Sgt. Edward Hastings IV asked him if he had been drinking, and he admitted he had, Doucette said.

Two females, ages 17 and 18, also walked out of the residence and admitted to drinking inside the residence, he said.

Four roommates at the residence told police they had all invited people to the party and admitted to drinking. The roommates said eight people were inside in addition to three outside, Doucette said.

Police arrested Matthew Scremin, 20, Brendan Murphy, 20, Jacob Murphy, 20, who is not related to Brendan, and Gavin Frisbee, 20, all of Farmington, They are each charged with a misdemeanor of furnishing a place for a minor to consume alcohol. Frisbee was also arrested on a violation of condition of release charge pertaining to another case.

Scremin and the Murphys were released Saturday on $3,000 unsecured bail. Frisbee was expected to go before a judge Monday.

Police have responded to a number of loud noise complaints at the apartment building, he said.

Police also responded to another report of loud noise Friday night at 117 Wilton Road. Doucette issued UMF student Owen Whitehead, 19, of Farmington, who was outside the residence, a summons on a civil violation of a minor consuming alcohol.
