My husband is a train fan and I would like to surprise him with tickets. So how do I get my hands on those? This sounds like a fun fall adventure. Thanks, Sun Spots, you are a loyal friend. — Mrs. LLM in Lewiston.

ANSWER: The article you refer to was written by an AP reporter.  The “Roots on the Rails” music train was on a chartered Vermont train known as “The Green Mountain Express.”

With those clues, Sun Spots found the website, www.rootsontherails.com, which lists the proposed 2016 music train events. According to the site, you can reserve your space now for the event that is “likely to be scheduled for November 11-14,” 2016.

You can email trains@sover.net or call 1-866-484-3669 for more information. Also, you can find them on Facebook under the name RootsRails. Sounds like fun; good luck with your reservations!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: There is a day for giving thanks and two days for getting deals. Now there is a global day dedicated to giving back. It’s called #GivingTuesday. On Tuesday, Dec. 1, charities, families, businesses, community centers and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills will participate in this event with its campaign: Give a Can/Bag Tuesday. Responsible Pet Care cares for stray and abandoned dogs and cats from the Oxford County area.

At any given time, there can be as many as 120 animals at the facility. With all those hungry pets waiting to be adopted or returned to their people, the shelter goes through many bags and cans of food every day.

The expense of feeding hundreds of dogs and cats every year is very high. Responsible Pet Care often relies on the community for donations of food and other much-needed items for the shelter.

With the Give a Can/Bag Tuesday campaign, the shelter is asking people to find a way for their family, business or organization to come together to give one can or one bag of dog or cat food per person.

One can of food can help an old kitty have a nutritious meal. One can of food can help a sick dog get strong. One bag of food can feed many dogs, cats and kittens until they are adopted.

The shelter’s food resources are frequently low, particularly with canned food. Often the elderly and sick animals are the only ones that can be fed the canned food.

Responsible Pet Care has made it easy for people to donate dog and cat food by using its Wish List on Amazon.com. The brands of pet food most used are on the wish list and they can be purchased and shipped directly to the shelter.

Food donations purchased locally can be brought to the shelter at 9 Swallow Road in Paris during the week of December 1. Responsible Pet Care invites people to join them on their Facebook page to learn more about Give a Can/Bag Tuesday and to post comments about how they plan to donate. Thank you.
