UPDATE: Farmington police say Tacy Taylor crossed center line in fatal collision
FARMINGTON — Two vehicles collided Tuesday night on Farmington Falls Road resulting in one fatality and a fuel spill.
According to Police Chief Jack Peck, a 2003 Ford Windstar driven by a 59-year-old Farmington woman was traveling east when her car crossed the lane into opposite traffic and was struck head-on by a 2007 Freightliner fuel truck owned by Dead River Co. Peck did not identify the woman because her relatives had not been notified of her death.
The two occupants of the truck, a 26-year-old driver and 55-year-old passenger, were both employees of Dead River and neither was injured in the collision.
The truck was tipped on its side and large amounts of fuel and kerosene were dumped on the road, Peck said.
Routes 2 and 27 were closed to clear and investigate the scene.
The call came in at 5:20 p.m. and it was still unknown why the driver of the Ford crossed into the opposite lane.
Assisting at the scene were Farmington fire, New Sharon fire, and Department of Environmental Protection. Maine State Police were called in to reconstruct the scene.
