FARMINGTON — Organizers of the first Family Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day are looking for volunteers.

The free community event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 25, at the Chesterville Town Hall, 409 Dutch Gap Rd. A traditional meal of ham, mashed potatoes, squash, gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls and pies will be served family style, Arleen Maselli, said.

The dinner is for anyone who is alone on Christmas, or who cannot make a meal, or or who wants to eat with others. Santa will visit. Guests may make reservations by calling Maselli at Knowlton Corner Farm, 778-6520. Free transportation can also be arranged for those who might otherwise be unable to attend.

Hot meals will be delivered to those who are homebound, she said. To reserve a meal for delivery within RSU 9 area, call Maselli.

Organizers Amanda Beane and Maselli are also looking for volunteers to assist with delivery of meals to homebound community members and help transport guests who would otherwise be unable to attend.

Other opportunities to volunteer also include set up, clean up, waiting tables, meal prep, baking and cooking.

“Giving back to the community is one of the most rewarding, humbling experiences,” Maselli said. “Start a new tradition with your friends and family by volunteering this holiday season for our first annual Family Christmas Dinner.”
