Continuity at the coaching position is a crucial to the success of any high school athletic program, and Mt. Blue boys’ basketball finally enjoys some this winter.

For the first time since 2011-12, Jim Bessey’s final season at the helm, the Cougars have the same face on the bench for a second consecutive season. Kevin Main welcomes back a veteran outfit that won only one game in his debut but appears poised to make a healthy jump in KVAC Class A.

Zach Mittlestadt has all-conference potential in the frontcourt, and Evan Backus, Devon Hoyt and Ryan Pratt give the Cougars veteran guards. Nine players in all have prior varsity experience.

The Cougars will welcome some new opponents to the schedule in the restructured five-class format, including Spruce Mountain
