AUBURN — Dozens of singers and dancers will take part in a Community Little Theatre “Holiday Spectacular” Dec. 10-12, at 30 Academy St.
The CLT stage will be decked out with a setting for Santa on one side, and a winter wonderland scene on the other side. Several veterans of CLT musical presentations are on the program with songs of the season in both solo and group performances.
Students of The Dance Center L/A will offer variations on themes from the Nutcracker ballet. There will be several a cappella vocal numbers by the Edward Little High School Chamber Choir, as well as songs by a children’s choir, and visits from Santa Claus and characters from the animated Disney movie “Frozen.”
Vincent Ratsavong, who is mentoring participants, said, “This our first holiday showcase. Our goal is to bring together a lot of talented people of all ages in the community.” He estimated that close to 75 singers and dances will take part in the show.
The six dancers for the Nutcracker segment will present two passages from the ballet’s celebration of sweets. They will dance to the Spanish theme representing chocolate, and the Arabian theme symbolizing coffee. The Dance Center’s numbers are choreographed by Lacey Moise, whose credits include dancing with the Maine State Ballet.
The vocalists from CLT’s company of performers include Rebekah Leonard, Olivia Mayo, Emily Flynn, Renée Mahon Davis, Mallory Haines White, Mitchell Clyde Thomas, Michael Litchfield, Cody Watson, Scotty Venable and Cam Ramich.
CLT’s Summer Youth Theater Project and Teen Musical Theatre Showcase will bring about 50 youths from the area to the stage. The children’s choir is comprised of students from third to sixth grade. Members of the Teen Showcase group range from seventh grade to high school seniors.
Appearances by Queen Elsa and Princess Anna, royalty from “Frozen,” are also a highlight. They will assist with the children’s chorus, and will join Santa Claus at the end of the performance when children from the audience may pose with them for photos. There’s a fee for the photo prints, and proceeds will go toward CLT’s production needs including microphones, LED lights, and improvements to the stage and seating, Ratsavong said.
Derrick Lacasse is musical director and Kay Warren is producer.
Performances of CLT’s “Holiday Spectacular” are at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 10, 11 and 12. There will not be a Saturday matinee as indicated on posters, Ratsavong said.
Tickets cost $16 for ages over 12, $14 for seniors over 60, and $10 for children 12 and younger. For tickets or information, call the CLT box office at 207-783-0958 or visit www.laclt.com.
