BETHEL — Announcement is made of the engagement of Whitney Elizabeth James and William Kyle Spratt, both of East Boston, Mass.

Miss James is the daughter of Richard G. James Jr. and Tammy James of Bethel. She is a graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in social work. She is employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a social worker.

Mr. Spratt is the son of Dan and Linda Lunt of Bar Harbor and the late Donald Spratt. He graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in mechanical engineering and is employed by Raytheon as an engineer.

The wedding will be held on Sept. 3, 2016, at the Bethel Inn Resort in Bethel.
