It was with great sorrow that I read about the resignation of Patricia Fournier, who has been employed with Androscoggin County for the past 40 years. I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to her for her service to the citizens of the county and the state.

Fournier is recognized for her honesty, determination, thoughtfulness and her loyalty, not only to the Commission, but for always having employees and the public interest in each project and decision she was required to make.

During her career as clerk, her duties have also been as personnel manager and purchasing agent. She performed her duties without question and, in doing so, she has saved taxpayers thousands upon thousands of dollars.

She has earned the respect of her fellow employees, as well as that of the general public that dealt with her, although some thought she was somewhat stern at times. Like all good soldiers, she had commissioners from whom she took her orders and to whom she had to answer for her actions.

Underneath that professionalism lay someone who really cares and has a heart of gold.

I would be remiss if I did not say I am extremely happy that she has made her decision. Those who worked with her, for her and the public she served will greatly miss her.

For now, she can relax and enjoy life as life should be; do what she wants when she wants — including time with family and her many friends.
