FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted unanimously Monday to approve a three-year contract with corrections officers at the jail.
The agreement includes a $1 an hour stipend for officers appointed to be in charge for the day. It also gives employees covered under the National Correctional Employees Union a 3 percent increase each of the three years, County Clerk Julie Magoon said.
The contract is effective from July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2018. The contract is retroactive for corrections officers except those hired on or after July 1. Those employees will get a one-time sign-on bonus of $225.
The contract also moves employees to higher deductible health insurance plans, Magoon said.
It will save the county $1,905 a month for the 15 employees, she said, adding up to a savings of $11,430 for the rest of the fiscal year. The current fiscal year ends on June 30, 2016.
