WILTON — The following sessions will be held in January at the Wilton CareerCenter, 865 U.S. Route 2E. These workshops are at no cost to the public. All workshops begin promptly at listed times. Registration is required unless otherwise noted.­­

Resume and Interviewing Skills: 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Wilton CareerCenter; 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at Region 9 Adult Ed in Mexico. Explore the basics of resumes and applications. Learn to market yourself in a way that directly matches employer needs. Discuss “tough” interview questions.

MEOC-101 — Essentials of College Planning: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21. This workshop introduces people to educational opportunities in general and MEOC services in particular. It touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career and study skills. Call to pre-register: 1-800-281-3703 for this session.

Vocational Rehabilitation Orientation: 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7. This is an orientation for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Service providers are welcome. Registration not required

Gateways to Employment: two sessions, 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Jan. 13, and again Wednesday, Jan. 27. This workshop will provide attendees with more information about the resources that the CareerCenter has to offer. Topics covered include: how to tap into the “hidden job market”; identifying the skills you have to offer employers and tips on successfully completing applications, resumes and cover letters, as well as how to register and apply for jobs posted through the CareerCenter.

O*net Ability Profiler: Call for further information as this workshop requires five or more people for attendance. This is a career exploration tool that helps clients plan work lives using a paper and pencil format with optional apparatus parts and computerized scoring. Results can be used to identify strengths for which more training/education is needed, and to identify occupations that fit those strengths.

Small Business Trainings: Small Business Administration will offer three workshops “Starting Your Own Small Business,” “Access to Capital” and “Federal and State Resources for Small Business.” Most of these workshops are two hours. For more information, call Bill Card at 1-207-622-8555.
