UPDATE: N.Y. man denied bail in Christmas Day homicide
AUGUSTA — State police arrested a New York man Tuesday in the shooting deaths of an Augusta couple on Christmas morning, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.
David W. Marble, 29, of Rochester, N.Y., was charged with two counts of murder after Augusta police stopped the vehicle in which he was a passenger at the State Street rotary in Augusta on Tuesday, McCausland said.
Marble was charged with killing Eric Williams, 35, and Bonnie Royer, 26, who were inside their parked SUV along Sanford Road in Manchester when they were shot, McCausland said. The deaths were drug related, according to detectives working on the case.
Marble was taken to the state police offices on Hospital Street for questioning before being charged. He had recently been living in an apartment on Sewall Street.
He was transported to the Kennebec County Jail and is expected to make his first court appearance in Augusta on Wednesday or Thursday.
State police were assisted by the Kennebec County Sherriff’s Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
