AUBURN — Plan to bring used Christmas trees to collection spots around the Twin Cities this year, unless you’ve made a deal with the Boy Scouts.

Neither Auburn nor Lewiston will collect used trees at the curb this winter.

Auburn residents finished with their trees can bring them to the Public Works garage on 296 Gracelawn Road, to Mid-Maine Waste Action Corp. offices on Goldthwaite Road during regular business hours, or to the Engine 2 Fire Station at 181 South Main St. in New Auburn.

Lewiston residents can bring their trees to the Public Works yard on 103 Adams Ave., or to the Solid Waste Facility at 424 River Road.

Local Boy Scout Troop 121 will pick up Christmas trees Jan. 9 and 10 for a $5 donation. The money goes directly to the troop’s scouting activities.

Residents interested in having the Scouts pick up their trees should contact them by mail before Jan. 7. Send the minimum $5 donation to Troop 121, United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave., Auburn, ME 04210. The troop will mail back a tag that should be attached to the bottom of the tree when it’s left at the curb.

For more information, call the Boy Scouts at 207-783-0790.
