Mtn. Valley 38, Madison 35
MADISON — Liza White scored 15 points and Mountain Valley warded off a second-half comeback by Madison for a 38-35 MVC girls’ basketball win on Monday night.
Sydney Petrie added 10 points and Ashley Russell eight for the Falcons (6-1). Mountain Valley gained the upper hand, 13-8, after one quarter and increased the margin to 21-14 at the half.
Kayla Bess led the Bulldogs (6-2) with 10 points. Erin Whalen added nine.
Oak Hill 36, Wiscasset 15
WISCASSET —Oak Hill shut out Wiscasset in the third quarter on Monday, withstanding an offensive lull of its own en route to a 36-15 MVC girls’ basketball triumph.
Despite scoring only three points in the period, the Raiders expanded a 19-11 halftime edge to double digits. Oak Hill then put it away with a 14-4 gain in the fourth.
Grace Sabine led the Raiders with 13 points. Sara Noel added nine and Bri Mulherin posted seven. Oak Hill held Wiscasset to 14 percent shooting and forced 25 turnovers.
Hayhlee Craig and Gabby Chapman produced five points apiece for the Wolverines.
Boothbay 38, Lisbon 14
BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Already well in command, Boothbaty shut out Lisbon in third quarter on Monday to seal a 38-14 MVC girls’ basketball victory and stay unbeaten.
Page Brown showed the way for the Seahawks (8-0) with 15 points. Faith Blethen boosted Boothbay with eight. The hosts led 13-4 after the first period and went up 21-8 at the half, then went on a 17-0 binge in the third.
Kaylin Le (nine points) and Jasmin Le (five) provided all the offense for the Greyhounds (4-4).
Boys’ basketball
A.R. Gould 65, Buckfield 58
SOUTH PORTLAND — A.R. Gould broke open a tie game in the fourth quarter on Monday and held off Buckfield for a 65-58 boys’ basketball victory.
The Bucks (4-4) are undefeated at home and winless on the road this season. They were held to nine points in the final period after erasing a five-point halftime deficit.
Tyrese Collins led A.R. Gould with 23 points. Eric Myers added 18 points and Malachi Beauchamp chipped in 10.
Jake Kraske chalked up 21 points for Buckfield. Alec Brough bolstered the Bucks with 14. Zack Grover tallied 12.
