GRAY — Isabelle DeTroy drained 12 points to help lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 46-44 victory over Wells on Saturday. DeTroy also had seven assists, six rebounds and five steals.
Brianna Jordan also had a stellar game for the Patriots (8-2), with six rebounds and five steals. Jordan also blocked Wells’ go-ahead three-point attempt at the buzzer to perserve the victory.
The Warriors (4-5), who were down 33-22 in the second half, got within one on several occasions, but couldn’t get the go -head bucket. Ally O’Brien knocked down three 3-pointers for nine points to lead the Warriors. Anya Chase and Hailee Ramsdell each had seven.
Rangeley 48, Vinalhaven 38
VINALHAVEN — Blayke Morin racked up 18 points and lit up the boards for 13 rebounds to pace Rangeley to a 48-38 win over Vinalhaven in a Class D showdown Saturday.
Morin also had six steals and three assists for the Lakers (10-1). Maddison Egan and Sydney Royce added 10 points and five steals each and combined to go 6-for-6 from the line in the fourth quarter to ice the game for the visitors.
Gilleyanne Davis-Oakes led Vinalhaven (7-2) with 13 points.
Poland 50, Sacopee Valley 35
POLAND — Sophomore guard Nathalie Theriault recorded 17 points and nine rebounds as Poland cruised to a 50-35 victory over Sacopee in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.
The Knights (4-6) led 21-15 at the half and added another six points at the start of the third quarter. Senior guard Sarah Bolduc chipped in with three field goals for eight points for Poland.
Junior guard Nette Humphrey scored a team-leading 11 points for the Hawkes (5-6) in the losing effort.
Boys’ basketball
A.R. Gould 67, Buckfield 59
BUCKFIELD — Eric Myers and Tyrese Collins helped break open a tie game in the fourth quarter to lead A.R. Gould to a 67-59 win over Buckfield in boys’ basketball Saturday.
Myers led all players with 21 points for Gould (6-3), while Collins added 15 in the Class D victory.
Jake Kraske led a trio of players in double figures for the Bucks (5-6), draining 19, including three from beyond the arc.
Aaron Roe added 11 points, with another three 3-pointers, and Alec Brough finished with five baskets for 10 points.
Rangeley 53, Vinalhaven 44
VINALHAVEN — Sophomore forward Kyle LaRochelle drained a team-high 23 points to lead Rangeley to a 53-44 victory over Vinalhaven in boys’ basketball action Saturday.
Junior guard Carl Trafton made all six foul shots attempted in the fourth quarter for the Lakers (5-6). Trafton also provided three field goals for a game total of 12 points for Rangeley.
Senior guard Lewis Cray carried the work load for the Vikings (5-4), recording 23 points on nine field goals, including three from 3-point range, and two free throws in the losing effort.
Boys’ hockey
Lewiston 5, Biddeford 4, OT
BIDDEFORD — Kyle Morin recorded a hat trick as the Lewiston High School Blue Devils defeated the Biddeford Tigers 5-4 in overtime at Biddeford Ice Arena.
Alex Robert and Brendan Croteau also scored for the Blue Devils, as they improve to 6-1 on the season. Goaltender Jacob Strout made 13 saves.
The Tigers’ (5-5) offense was powered by Ricky Ruck, Brady Crepeau, Kerry Crepeau and Joey Curit, who each had goals. Tom Green made 40 saves in the losing effort.
Girls’ hockey
Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill 6, Brunswick 0
BRUNSWICK — Freshman Bree Bergeron notched a hat trick as Lewiston/Monnmouth/Oak Hill cruised to a 6-0 victory over Brunswick in girls’ hockey action Saturday afternoon.
Corinne LaBerge contributed two goals for the Blue Devils (8-3-1). Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill scored two goals in each period.
Goalie Meagan Gosselin made 25 saves for Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill, while Jordan van Savage defended 26 shots for Brunswick in the losing effort.
Junior Hockey
Fighting Spirit 2, Wild 0
BIDDEFORD — Walker Hamilton’s power play goal in the second period was the eventual game-winner as the L/A Fighting Spirit defeated the in-state rival Maine Wild 2-0 at Biddeford Ice Arena on Saturday night.
Hamilton’s goal was assisted by Jordan Crowe and Mike Heffernan.
Laim McGrath scored the Fighting Spirit’s second goal in the third period with Dylan Vrees notching the helper.
McGrath was playing in his first game for the Spirit.
Zach Berry stopped all 10 shots he faced in the win while Brandon Daigle made 37 saves for the Wild.
Men’s basketball
Bowdoin 84, Bates 77
LEWISTON — Lucas Hausman scored 42 points to lead Bwodoin colelge to an 84-77 victory over Bates College in NESCAC men’s basketball action Saturday afternoon.
Mike Boornazian scored 20 points with four assists for the Bobcats (8-6). Bates center Malcolm Delpeche finished with a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Marcus Delpeche added 15 points and nine boards.
Matt Palecki had 11 points and a team-high seven reboudns for the Polar Bears (8-4). Jack Simonds posted a game-high five assists in the winning effort.
Lyndon State 73, UMF 69
FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington was topped by Lyndon State College 73-69 in NAC men’s basketball action Saturday.
The Beavers (1-11) had three players score in double figures. Anfernee Dent, Sean Murhpy and Nick Hilton netted 15 points each.
UMaine-Farmington walked into the locker room at halftime with a nine-opint advantage. But the Hornets started the second half on an 18-4 run.
Xavier Colbert led the Hornets (5-5) with a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds. Gabriel Torres followed up with 15 points, all coming from the 3-point variety in the winning effort.
