LISBON — Voters will head to the polls Tuesday for their fifth attempt at passing a school budget.
This time, they’ll vote on a $15.18 million budget for the current school year.
In November, a $15.03 million budget vote failed, with residents saying they wanted to see the amount higher.
For the November vote and this one, the School Committee recommended a budget of $15.27 million.
Voting will take place for Ward 1 at the Superintendent’s Central Office gym at 19 Gartley St. and for Ward 2 at the MTM Community Center gym, 18 School St. in Lisbon Falls.
Polling hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents can register to vote at the polls if they bring a valid ID.
The town has 6,000 registered voters, according to Town Clerk Twila Lycette. Just under 2,000 turned out to vote in the last election.
The budget — and what to do it if passes, or doesn’t — will be discussed at the School Committee’s meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Town Office, Superintendent Rick Green said.
“I think at this point, the agreement between the town, the new councilors and the School Committee members is the best option out of any of the ones we’ve had so far,” Green said. “I’m hoping that we can get a budget approved. It’s very difficult when it’s January and you don’t have a budget.”
