EUSTIS — Police said a Rangeley man is accused of being a fugitive from justice and violating his probation in Colorado.

Franklin County sheriff’s Deputy Brad Scovil on Sunday noticed a car pulled off the side of Route 16, so he pulled over to see if the driver was OK, sheriff’s Lt. David Rackliffe said Monday.

Initially, Ross Thompson, 30, gave Scovil a wrong name, Rackliffe said. When his real name was discovered, police learned there was a warrant from Eagle County, Colo., with full extradition, he said.

Scovil took him into custody as a fugitive from justice. He is being held at the Franklin County jail in Farmington without bail.

Thompson had received a two-year sentence followed by two years probation on charges of theft and possession of dangerous drugs, Rackliffe said. Thompson had secured bail.

Eagle County courts issued a warrant for Thompson’s arrest after there was a complaint filed that he was not complying with his probation, Eagle County Sheriff James Van Beek said. Vale Police Department handled the original case, he said.
