LIVERMORE — Administrative Assistant Carrie Castonguay lauded Transfer Station employees at Monday night’s meeting of selectpersons.
A total of 55.04 tons of waste was recycled in 2014 and 93.03 tons in 2015, she said. Tires, batteries, metal and other materials were not included in those numbers.
Livermore changed to no-sort recycling in October 2014. Prior to that, containers were provided to collect various types of recyclables.
The 2014 number reflects all recycling done that year.
“According to Karen McNaughton, municipal sales representative for Casella (Pine Tree Waste), this should put us at the top for recycling in the state,” Castonguay said Wednesday.
She praised station employees Juanita Jordan-Bryant, who was hired as supervisor of the transfer station in 2002, and assistant Jim Bryant, no relation to Juanita Jordan-Bryant, who was hired in 2011.
“Juanita and Jim do an outstanding job for the town and it is rewarding when their efforts and hard work pay off,” Castonguay said.
The Transfer Station is at the end of a gravel road off Route 4, just north of R.S. Pidacks sand and gravel business. The station is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Castonguay also announced Monday that 24 foreclosure notices would be mailed Friday to property owners who owe taxes.
