PERU — Timothy M. Holland, 33, was unexpectedly called home on Saturday, Jan. 16, to share his love of the outdoors with the masses in heaven.
Timmy is the son of Tim Holland and Linda (Plott) Holland.
He was a true lover of the outdoors, always willing to share his knowledge with all who showed an interest in the sports he so dearly enjoyed.
Timmy was a storyteller from the time he learned how to speak, always engaging those around him in tales of moose, deer and bear chases, the great fish that got away, or the one he caught and released before there was time for a photo for proof. Those who knew Timmy enjoyed his stories — no matter how tall they got — and they had a tendency to grow large.
From a very young age, Timmy found an interest in baseball card collecting, and could be found sitting in his room among boxes of trading cards.
As Timmy grew, so did his love of the outdoors as he was introduced by his dad to all nature could do for the mind, body and soul.
He enjoyed any sport that took him out of the house, whether it was sledding, skating or swimming at the pond with his sisters, or spending countless hours fishing with his dad or his closest childhood friends from the neighborhood, especially Dale and Jug Head. Timmy was at home outside.
Timmy spent countless hours helping teach his cousins and other local children how to fish in the catch-and-release style. It was quite often you would see him standing with fish pole or trap in hand with a little one looking on in excitement. He was so patient and always looked forward to seeing the excitement in the eyes of those around him when they caught their first fish, shot their first moose, deer or bear with a bit of Timmy’s guidance.
In recent years, Timmy found a passion for bird-hunting and would make frequent trips to Greenville and Kokadjo with like-minded friends.
Just this past fall, Timmy was able to enjoy a moose hunt with his aunt, Nona, and uncle, Dave. He was so excited to be along on that trip, and after the adrenaline rush wore off, stated that it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Again, Timmy was able to share knowledge with others who had a desire to be more active in the outdoors.
Timmy will always be remembered for his kind spirit to all, and his willingness to share his knowledge and love of the outdoors.
Timmy is survived by his dad and best friend, Tim Holland and his wife, Karen, of Peru; his mom, Linda Holland and her partner, Armand, of Windham; three sisters, Cherri Crockett and her husband, Andy, of Bethel, Elizabeth Haskell and her husband, Scott, of Fort Hood, Texas, and Jess Carrier and her husband, Dan, of Peru; two brothers, Sean Betts of Anderson, S.C., and Eric Betts and his wife, Angel, of Lawton, Okla.; paternal grandparents, Stan and Claire Holland of Peru; maternal grandparents, Bernard and Marion Plott of Baltimore, Md.; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and friends, old and new, who adored his company.
