This is in response to the letter to the editor from Mary Jane Newell (Jan. 27).

In it, she wrote that liberals should just get over it regarding the actions of Gov. Paul LePage. She further stated that liberals are sore losers.

I would offer the following for her and others’ consideration: regarding conservatives and liberals — there are no losers. The American people lose their voice.

Newell stands behind the U.S. Constitution, but the Constitution does not contain the words “conservative” or “liberal.” She might want to review the first sentence: “We the People of the United States …”

I am concerned by her last statement: “By the way, I carry a printed copy of the U.S. Constitution with me. How many liberals can make the same claim?”

Does carrying a copy of the U.S. Constitution put her on some moral high ground in comparison to other U.S. citizens?
