NORWAY — Oxford Hills SCORE is offering a workshop on crowdfunding and its importance to the growth of businesses in Maine.
It will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the Norway Town Office, 19 Danforth St. There is no charge to attend.
The program by the Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development is for start-up and existing small businesses.
The use of Internet platforms for funding businesses, projects and products — collectively known as crowdfunding — is exploding around the globe. There are four types of crowdfunding: rewards, where Kickstarter dominates; equity, where new Maine and federal laws apply; donation, where GoFundMe dominates; and online lending, with two fast-growing giants.
The instructor, Don Gooding, has run the Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development for five years, is host of the television show “Greenlight Maine” and has taught or spoken about innovation and entrepreneurship at seven Maine colleges or universities.
Register online at http://conta.cc/1J2a3OH no later than Friday, Feb. 19, to hold a seat.
For more information, call SCORE at 207-743-0499. Returning veterans of the armed services are encouraged to attend.
