DIXFIELD — Ludden Memorial Library is partnering with the Maine State Library and the Maine Humanities Council for a new book discussion series facilitated by UMF professor Elizabeth Cooke.
Peggy Malley, director of the Ludden Memorial Library, said the series is titled “Opening Windows: Women’s Stories from Five Cultures.” It is a part of the Let’s Talk About It program created by the American Library Association in 1982.
According to the ALA’s website, Let’s Talk About It invites people to read a “common series of books selected by a nationally known scholar, and discuss them in the context of a larger, overarching theme.”
Malley said the discussion will feature “an exploration of storytelling traditions in women writers from Asia, India, Africa and the Caribbean.”
The first book is “Kitchen” by Banana Yoshimoto and discussion will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10.
Malley said anyone interested in attending is welcome to pick up a copy at the library.
