ANSWER: Sun Spots reached out to the Donald Trump campaign, but received no answer regarding his intentions of opening a campaign office anywhere in Maine. Sun Spots also contacted a grassroots organization called “Maine for Trump 2016” on Facebook, and they said they are unsure of his future plans regarding opening an office in the Lewiston-Auburn area or anywhere else in the state at this time. A list of states on his campaign website where Trump is actively recruiting supporters fails to include Maine.

Trump’s not-exactly-traditional campaign style has surprised us before, though. So who really knows? Tomorrow, when we all wake up,  there could be a Trump campaign office on every corner — but unlikely. Joe Turcotte, the Maine GOP political director, said he is unaware of any Republican presidential campaign offices open in the state as of yet, but that he expects the candidates to begin focusing their attention on our state “very soon.” One thing is for sure, Sun Journal will keep you posted.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there anywhere in Lewiston or Auburn where I can have my cassettes converted onto CDs? — George, Auburn.

ANSWER: Via Vision, which is located in the same spot as its sister company, Photo Finish, in the Auburn Mall does audio cassette tape to CD conversion. Depending on how many you have, it can take up to a month to complete the order, or you can pay a $30 rush fee if you need them sooner. The company does a variety of medium-type transfers at that location. Via Vision also has a second location in Brunswick on Maine Street. Perhaps a reader knows of some other places that perform this service, and if so, Sun Spots hopes he or she will share the information.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Although it’s been a rather warm winter, there is still time for some snowy and icy weather, so I wanted to let people in Norway know about the police department’s Operation Sandbox program whose mission is to help older residents feel more secure this winter season. Older residents in Norway can request to have a bucket of salt/sand delivered to them so they can feel safer by spreading the mixture on walkways and paths near their home. A police officer will bring it right to you, and best of all, it’s free. If you or someone you know is an older resident living in Norway, please call the Norway Police Department at (207) 743-5303. Thank you. — No name, Norway.
