Barton graduates University of Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. — Rebecca Elizabeth Barton, daughter of Churchill and Amanda Barton of Auburn, graduated magna cum laude and with honors from the University of Tampa with degrees in graphic design and art in May 2015.  

She is a 2010 graduate of Edward Little High School. After graduation, she attended and completed the Flatiron Immersive Web Development School in Manhattan, and, upon completion of the program, she accepted a position in New York City as marketing engineer/web coder with Hightower Inc., a company developing end-to-end leasing management solutions for the commercial real estate industry.

Schlax named to Grinnell dean’s list

GRINNELL, Iowa — Sarah Schlax has been named to the Grinnell College dean’s list for the fall semester 2015.

Schlax is one of 295 students honored for outstanding academic achievement by Grinnell College. To make the dean’s list, students must have a grade point average of 3.75 or above.

Schlax is the daughter of Dr. Peter E. Schlax Jr. and Dr. Paula J. Schlax of Lewiston.

Barnes graduates Fort Lewis College

DURANGO, Colo. — Samuel Barnes of Topsham graduated from Fort Lewis College on Dec. 19, 2015. Barnes received a bachelor’s degree with a major in business administration.

Barnes was also named to Fort Lewis College’s dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester. To be eligible, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.6 or better in no fewer than 15 credit hours of graded college level work and have completed all work for which they are registered by the end of the semester.

Northeastern University dean’s list

BOSTON — Northeastern University recognized students who distinguished themselves academically during the course of the school year.

Local residents named to the dean’s list for the fall semester, which ended in December 2015, are Auburn resident Patrick Buzza, who is majoring in electrical engineering; and Raymond resident Clayton Manchester, majoring in mechanical engineering.

Longwood student honored

FARMVILLE, Va. — Longwood University has selected 963 students to the president’s and dean’s list for superior academic achievement during the fall 2015 semester. Among those who earned a perfect academic average of 4.0 or an outstanding academic average of 3.5 to 3.99 was Madison May Cutten of Raymond, dean’s list.

Denmark student on dean’s list

JOHNSON, Vt. — Megan Cavanaugh of Denmark, senior at Johnson State College, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester.

Wade named to MTU dean’s list

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Sarah Wade of Farmington has been named to the Michigan Technological University dean’s list for the 2015 fall semester.

Wade, majoring in computer engineering, is a Mt. Blue High School graduate.

To qualify, a student must take 12 or more grade point credits and achieve a semester grade point average of 3.5 or better.
