DIXFIELD — Regional School Unit 10 Superintendent Craig King told the board this week that several people have applied for the assistant superintendent position.

In an email, King said a committee composed of four school board members and four teachers will begin interviews Friday, March 4.

Assistant Superintendent Ann Bell resigned last month. She had held the post since June 2015.

In other matters, King said a survey of faculty and parents of Rumford Elementary School students indicated they want a principal with good communication skills, a solid problem-solver and a strong advocate for the school and its students. The survey also showed the school does well in engaging students, providing them with a safe and orderly environment and a good education.

According to the survey, needed improvements include a clear mission statement, higher expectations for student success and more effective home and school relations.

Longtime Principal Christopher Decker plans to retire at the end of this school year.
