RUMFORD — Johnny Ater, one of Maine’s favorite comedians, headlines Maine Event Comedy at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Rumford’s 49 Franklin. The show will also feature Kyron Hobdy and Mark Turcotte.
Whether he’s taking light-hearted swipes at himself and his fellow Mainers or contorting his face into hilarious characters, Ater has left audiences laughing throughout New England and beyond since 2003. He’s performed at the Punchline in San Francisco and is the resident host of the Maine Comedy Festival. Ater has also appeared on “The Nite Show with Danny Cashman” and recently spearheaded a fundraising show for the Bath Food Pantry.
Hobdy was invited to take part in the 2015 World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas. He has performed at Comix at Foxwoods and is a regular at Headliners Comedy Club.
Turcotte was a recent selection to the Boston, Cleveland and North Carolina comedy festivals and was a finalist in the Funniest Comic on the East Coast Contest.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for seating social, theater snacks and a cash a bar. Show starts at 8 p.m., please enter at the upper back parking lot at the Mystic Theater door.
