1948 – 2016

RAYMOND — James E. Golding Jr., 68, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Jimmy was born January 5,1948, in Brunswick, to James and Thelma (Litchfield) Golding.

Jimmy married Judith Sanford and they had two children together, Robert and Rachel. Years later, he married Elaine Penley and she had a son, Kevin.

Jimmy worked for many years at L.L. Bean and Curtis Lawn Care, both in Freeport. He moved to Florida in 2002 to open his own Lawn Care business only to return to Maine in 2008. He was then employed at Berlin City Toyota/Lexus of Portland until retiring in 2012.

Jimmy was a true cheer leader for all of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Often showing up with cut oranges for all the players. He held a special place in his heart for the GNG Diamond cheering teams. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fly fishing and hunting with his son, Robert. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loving Tony Stewart. His favorite saying at any time was “Go Tony!”

He is survived by his son, Robert and wife, Calli, of Mechanic Falls; and daughter, Rachel and her husband, Joseph, of New Gloucester. His stepson, Kevin and his wife, Denise, of New Boston, N.H.; four sisters, Lillian Hall of Pownal, Ini and Pete Harrison of Freeport, Sandi Brooks of Farmingdale, and Marjorie Golding Larrivee and her husband, David, and brother, Mark Golding, all of Raymond.

He had 10 grandchildren that were his world. Kendall, Gabrielle and Jarrett Golding; Breanna Hart and Alandra Burnham; Sydney, Abigail and Alexis Spinney; and Ethan and Alex King. He also had seven great-grandchildren. He also had many cousins, nephews, aunts, uncles and thier families. He had countless special friends because Jimmy was just that kind of man that could be friends with anyone and do any thing for everyone.

He was predeceased by both of his parents; and by brothers-in law, David Ingerson and Roderick Brooks.
