ANSWER: There were a couple of options for watching the high school basketball tournaments each year. The games were live streamed online, or you could have watched them on demand at mpbn.net/Television/LocalTelevisionPrograms/Basketball.aspx. The games were also broadcast on MPBN-TV 4, which, for Time Warner Cable customers, is channel 1277. DirectTV and Dish Network do not run the local MPBN television channel. The good news is, even if you are a cable television subscriber who does not receive channel 1277 or if you are a satellite television subscriber, you can still watch games with a regular antenna (remember those old rabbit ears collecting dust in the attic?) by tuning in to your local MPBN station. If you missed this year’s action and don’t feel like waiting until next year, you can also order DVDs of your favorite games, but they’re a bit on the pricey side at $30 apiece. Visit https://secure3.convio.net/mpbn/site/Ecommerce?store_id=1261 to place an order.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: First, I thank you for all the help you give so many. I’m in hopes you and other readers can help me as well. I am looking for groups or companies that collect signatures for citizen’s initiatives. I am part of a nonprofit called Maine C.U.R.E. I am finding it difficult to find information on this subject. This is a huge undertaking and we need any help anyone can give or offer. You can contact me at mainecure.org or visit maine.cure@facebook.com or call me at (207) 440-7096. I thank everyone for their help in advance. — Amanda, Rumford.

ANSWER: Paid signature collectors, or petition circulators, must be registered to vote in the state of Maine and follow other laws in accordance with Maine’s Clean Election laws. Most of the companies who do this kind of work are out-of-state firms, like Fieldworks LLC based out of Washington D.C. These out-of-state companies advertise on college campuses and on places like Indeed.com or Craigslist to hire local registered voters to gather signatures for their Maine-based clients.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lewiston School Nutrition Program will be offering the Summer Food Service Program during the summer months.
