SABATTUS – Town Manager Tony Ward presented a proposed budget of $2.54 million to selectmen and about 10 residents Tuesday night.

The amount is $2,727 less than this fiscal year.

Selectmen and the Budget Committee will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, March 3, 10, 17 and 24 at the Town Hall to consider the 2016-17 spending plan. The public is invited to attend.

The board asked Ward to talk with Lisbon officials about the dispatch contract for police, fire and emergency medical services. The three-year pact includes an 11.5 percent increase the first year and a 3 percent increase the other two years. The board would like more information before agreeing to the higher amount.

The animal control service shared with Lisbon has little to no increase for the coming fiscal year. There will be an increase in billing, however, to cover the cost of a new vehicle.

Police Lt. Matthew Prince has resigned, effective March 11. Ward and Chief Gary Baillargeon are strategizing to fill the position.

The board unanimously voted to appoint Bruce Lovett to a two-year term on the Budget Committee and as an alternate on the Planning Board.

The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, at the Town Hall.
