PORTLAND — A Maine man who pleaded guilty to taking sexually explicit pictures of an 8-year-old girl is headed to prison.

The Portland Press Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1nyM6UZ ) that 29-year-old Wayne Niski, of South Portland, was sentenced Wednesday in Portland to 16½ years in federal prison.

Federal prosecutors say investigators with the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit seized a USB flash drive from Niski’s home last March. It had copies of images he had taken in 2013.

Niski pleaded guilty in September to sexual exploitation of a minor. Additional child pornography charges were dismissed under a plea agreement.
