NEW GLOUCESTER — The town library has received a $40,000 grant from the Stephen & Tabitha King Foundation to replace the roof and make other repairs, according to a library statement Wednesday.
Librarian Suzan Hawkins said in the statement, “Receiving this grant will allow us to immediately address the roof issue and other concerns, helping to make sure that our collections are protected. Our community is very thankful for the generosity of the King family.”
The foundation awards grants to eligible entities twice a year.
The library received two smaller Stephen & Tabitha King Foundation grants when it moved to its current location from the Meetinghouse in 1997. The grants were for renovation work and furnishings.
