LEWISTON — Theresa Beaudette, LCSW, and Caroline “Tookie” Bright, LCSW, of The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing have recently attained national board certification as oncology social workers through the Board of Oncology Social Work Certification.
Bright is the youth and family services coordinator who leads the Healing Tree Program. She is skilled in the use and application of expressive and experiential therapies including art, play, sand play and adventure. To complement this work, she also holds a certification as a wilderness first responder and has years of experience leading and coordinating wilderness adventure-based therapeutic programming. She has published and presented at local and national levels on a variety of oncology topics related to children, adolescents, young adults and families.
Beaudette is an oncology social worker who facilitates several support groups at the Dempsey Center and has facilitated grief support groups and psycho-educational grief programs in the Lewiston-Auburn community since 2002. She uses a variety of therapeutic modalities, including narrative therapy and cognitive behavior therapy in her work, and her approach to counseling is strength- and solution-based. She also provides grief and bereavement support and counseling services.
