AUBURN — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chamber on the second floor of Auburn Hall. The workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. and the topic is committee work, as well as an executive session. Regular meeting is at 7 p.m.

TUESDAY, March 22
LEWISTON — City Council special meeting at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chamber on the bottom floor of City Hall. The city administrator’s proposed 2016-17 budget will be presented.
WEDNESDAY, March 23
LEWISTON — Informational meeting on the budget and design of the proposed new elementary school and athletic field complex, followed by a straw vote on the school, 6 p.m., Lewiston High School. The vote is nonbinding, but the state, which is paying for the school, wants community input on the project.
LEWISTON — Talk by Dr. Lindiwe Sibanda of Zimbabwe about the sustainable farming movement in Africa titled “The First 1,000 Days: Agriculture and Nutrition in Global Perspective,” 7:30 p.m., Muskie Archives, Bates College. Sibanda is leading a multi-country ATONU Project to improve nutrition.
AUBURN — Lewiston Auburn Charter Commission regular meeting at 6 p.m in Auburn Hall. Wednesday discussion topics include a report from the group’s consultant and a discussion about whether the mayor should be allowed to vote.
AUBURN — School Committee budget workshop, 6 to 9 p.m., Auburn Hall.
AUBURN — Public forum on the Middle East exploring what action the U.S. should take, 7 p.m., Jalbert Hall, Central Maine Community College. Panelists are Chris Beam, who teaches history at CMCC and served in Vietnam in the Marines from 1968-69; state Rep. Jared Golden, D-Lewiston, an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran who graduated from Bates College, worked in the Middle East and represents Lewiston in the Legislature; and Karl Trautman, author and teacher of political science at CMCC. Comments and questions will be solicited from the audience.
