ARUNDEL — Authorities say 11 people were involved in a three-car crash over the weekend in Maine.
It happened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday in Arundel. Sheriff’s deputies say the group of mostly teenagers was returning from Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunkport when the cars they were in — two pickup trucks and an SUV — crashed into one another.
Authorities say one car sideswiped the other that was attempting to pass in a no passing zone, causing a collision with a third vehicle.
The sideswiped vehicle then attempted to return to the travel lane, hitting the first car in the process. The third car’s driver lost control and left the roadway.
Police say one of the drivers was summoned for driving to endanger and illegal transportation of alcohol.
Officials say everyone was treated at the scene.
