AUGUSTA — A Maine government survey says the average statewide price for heating oil is a penny higher than last week, when prices climbed for the first time in several months.
The Governor’s Energy Office says the average price according to the March 21 survey was $1.73 per gallon. That’s about 28 cents lower than the average at the start of the heating season.
The average kerosene price was up a penny, and the average propane price was up 2 cents.
As always, energy costs varied across the state. The highest heating oil price was $2.08 in eastern Maine and the lowest was $1.47 in western Maine.
