It staggers one’s faith in honest journalism that the Sun Journal would print a guest column by Will Coggin (March 27), “Antiquities Act allows Obama to take land as monuments.”

At the very least, the editors need to make clear the source of Coggin’s assertions with the Environmental Policy Alliance, cleverly named to be easily confused with the Environmental Protection Agency. A look at sourcewatch.org or Huffington Post describes how Coggin’s group advocates the polar opposite of EPA policy and is the front group operated by the PR firm Berman & Co. “The firm operates a network of dozens of front groups, attack-dog web sites, and alleged think tanks that work to counteract minimum wage campaigns, keep wages low for restaurant workers, and to block legislation on food safety …” It “attacks environmental advocacy groups and fights against environmental regulations by the government.” (sourcewatch.org)

Readers might want to check those sites more thoroughly.

That the Sun Journal would entertain that bald-faced propaganda makes the editors seem asleep to agendas of disinformation, for which subscribers are still asked to pay.

Disciplined, intelligent conservative commentary, yes; thinly disguised propaganda and false representations, no.
