BETHEL – Proposed changes to the name of the Bingham Forest Authority and the town’s sign ordinance will be discussed at the Board of Selectmen meeting Monday, April 11.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Town Office.
Town Manager Christine Landes said she’s been pondering changing the name of the Bingham Forest Authority, a group created in 2013 to provide oversight to the land in Bingham Forest.
“According to the auditor, the Bingham Forest Authority doesn’t really run like an enterprise fund the way the Bethel Airport Authority does,” Landes said. “I thought we should adjust the name to reflect that.”
She said one possible name could be the “Bingham Forest Advisory Committee,” or something similar.
The board will also review a proposal for sign ordinance changes made by the Ordinance Review Committee, Landes said.
“There are several changes that the Ordinance Review Committee proposed after looking at the sign ordinance,” Landes asid. “Some of them include increasing the size of signs, or eliminating banners. Since it’s a code change, it would have to go before the voters.”
Other items up for discussion and possible action include:
• Liquor license renewals for Kowloon Village and Sudbury Inn;
• Acceptance of Jarrod Crockett’s resignation from the Bingham Forest Authority;
• Appointment of election workers;
• Appointments to the School Cost-sharing Committee;
• Town report dedication proposal;
• Consideration of public road request from Hancock Lumber;
• Clarification on late charge assessment for recreation programs; and
• Proposal from Sewer Fees Committee regarding rates.
