LIVERMORE FALLS — A local man is accused of robbing a resident of Wheeler Street at gunpoint early Monday and making off with a small safe, Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.
Robert T. Judd, 37, of Livermore Falls is being held on $100,060 cash bail at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn on 11 charges, according to corrections officers.
Steward said Judd took off on foot after the robbery. Police saw a man fitting the robber’s description getting into a vehicle near a church. The driver led police from several agencies on a low-speed chase into Franklin and Kennebec counties, escaping roadblocks along the way, Steward said.
Maine State Police stopped the vehicle in the Mount Vernon/Belgrade area.
Judd was arrested on felony charges of robbery, burglary, eluding an officer, passing a roadblock and theft by deception. He also faces misdemeanor charges of criminal trespassing, driving to endanger, criminal speed, resisting arrest and possessing burglar tools.
Conviction on each of the robbery and burglary charges carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Officer Devon Bohacik was assisted by Lt. Joseph Sage, Jay police officer Dylan Rider and Androscoggin County and Franklin County sheriff’s deputies and Maine State Police.
In September 2014, Judd was sentenced to four years in prison with all but 63 days suspended and two years probation after pleading guilty to three counts of felony forgery. Jay police said he used the card he had stolen from a purse at a Livermore Falls business, to buy more than $1,200 in food, gas and merchandise in October 2013.
