Season outlook: Based on the Mustangs’ success a year ago and the return of their entire starting lineup, they are considered the MVC favorite and a co-favorite along with Sacopee Valley in Class C South. Sanborn, Richardson and Harris give Monmouth a starting rotation that no other team can match. The left side of the infield is rock-solid with three-year starters Caissie and Richardson. Cote is a nuisance at the top of the order and can play just about any position on the field. Monmouth has lost in the semifinals the past two years but has the personnel to crash through that roadblock.
