NORWAY — The library staff and Board of Trustees of the Norway Memorial Library announced that Julia Hoisington is leaving the employ of the library at the end of April for a new position in southern Maine.
Julia has worked in her current position in reference and library operations since September 2011. Hoisington has provided one-on-one technology assistance through “Book a Librarian,” developed popular interactive displays like Blind Date with a Book and a March Madness Tournament of Books. Along with her colleague, Katherine Morgan, Hoisington applied for and received a National Endowment for the Humanities/American Library Association “Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys” grant that provided an addition of several books and films for the library’s collection. A summer of cultural programming to support use of the new materials was funded by an arts and humanities grant from the Maine Humanities Council and matching funds provided by the Friends of Norway Memorial Library.
“Julia has been a strong asset to the library. From providing friendly service to planning programs and developing book discussion series, to coordinating the efforts of volunteers, to using her good eye for appealing design and enthusiasm for literature and popular culture, she made her mark,” said Beth Kane, Library Director. “She has been a pleasure to work with and though we will miss her, we offer her our sincere good wishes for her future.”
A reception for Hoisington is planned from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be served.
