JAY — A Lewiston man and a Portland woman complained of pain Tuesday after their vehicles collided head-on at the intersection of Routes 133 and 156, Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said.
Donald Morris, 50, of Lewiston was driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan north on Route 133 when a 2008 Dodge SUV, driven by Sheila Stoval, 55, of Portland, approached the Bean’s Corner intersection from Route 156, stopped, attempted to cross Route 133 and struck the van head-on, Fournier said.
Fournier said he issued Stoval a summons on a charge of failure to stop at a stop sign.
Both vehicles were pushed to the side of the road; Morris’ struck a utility pole, Fournier said.
Morris complained of shoulder and neck pain, and Stoval complained of leg pain. The air bag in each vehicle deployed.
NorthStar EMS ambulance personnel checked the drivers at the scene.
Wilton Police Department and Jay Fire/Rescue Department provided traffic control and firefighters cleaned up debris from the 11:23 a.m. accident.
Fournier estimated $8,000 damage to Stoval’s SUV and $4,500 to Morris’ van.
