CAMDEN — Junior center fielder Tyler Blanchard tagged two hits and plated two runners as Edward Little sailed to a 6-0 victory over Camden Hills in baseball action Saturday afternoon.

Junior pitcher Damien St.Pierre struck out five and notched a two-hit shutout for the Red Eddies (10-0). Sophomore Grant Harltey had a leadoff home run in the sixth inning for Edward Little.

Shortstop Garrison Looke had both of the Windjammers’ (2-8) hits in the losing effort.

Mountain Valley 10, Winthrop 4

RUMFORD — Senior pitcher Tim Fitgerald struck out four, walked none and scattered 11 hits to lead Mountain Valley to a 10-4 victory over Winthrop in baseball action Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons (3-6) swooped in for a six-hit, six-run sixth inning. Junior first baseman Jon Adley collected two hits and two RBIs for Mountain Valley.

Junior catcher Matt Ingram snagged three hits and three RBIs, including a two-run home run in the third inning for the Ramblers (3-6) in the losing effort.

Edward Little 14, Camden Hills 1

CAMDEN — Edward Little sent 13 batters to the plate in a nine-run third inning as the Red Eddies toppled Camden Hills 14-1 in softball action Saturday afternoon.

Grace Beaudet had two hits and two RBIs in the third inning for the Red Eddies (8-2). Jordyn Reynolds and Kylie Bureau each crossed the plate twice in the inning.

Maddie Bowman roped a triple and scored the lone Windjammers’ (0-10) run on an RBI single from Ticia Billings in the losing effort.

Buckfield sweeps Forest Hills

BUCKFIELD — Buckfield dispatched Forest Hills twice, 16-6 and 19-4, in doubleheader softball action Saturday afternoon.

The Bucks (9-2) were trailing 6-2 in the fourth inning of Game 1 when they exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the frame. Junior left fielder Abby Fogg went 3-for-3 in the opener with a triple and two singles and closed the day with five hits for Buckfield.

In Game 2, the Bucks barrelled through the second and third innings with 15 runs. Senior second baseman Ashely Campbell had a three-run home run, while senior right fielder Courtney Keough recorded a double and a single in the nightcap.

Sophomore pitcher Caitlin Logston pitched both games for the Tigers (5-5). Logston also carried much of the offense with a double and a single in the first game, and a two-run single in the third inning of the closer.

Boys’ lacrosse

Fryeburg 9, Mt. Blue 2

FARMINGTON — Evan Caracciola packed away two goals and three assists to lead Fryeburg to a 9-2 victory over Mt. Blue in boys’ lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders (5-2) turned up the tempo in the third quarter with four goals, and recorded 61 shots to Mt. Blue’s 18 in the contest.

Jeremiah Schrader and Marcus Schneider tallied two goals and an assist each for Fryeburg.

Reed Wells had a goal and an assist for the Cougars (4-2) in the losing effort.

Edward Little 9, Portland 5

PORTLAND — Isaac Cote and Matt Verrill registered three goals each as Edward Little overcame Portland 9-5 in boys’ lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.

The Red Eddies (4-3) scored three goals in the first quarter, and no less than two in each of the other three.

The Bulldogs (4-4) were led by Robert Nolan with two goals. Portland trailed by just one at the half, but could only tally one goal the rest of the way.

Goalie Brandon Asselin made eight saves to earn the win in net for Edward Little.
