LIVERMORE — Selectpersons on Monday night voted 3-1 to hire Amy Byron as administrative assistant.
Peter Castonguay, Megan Dion and Tom Gould voted in favor of the motion, while Mark Chretien voted against. Selectperson Timothy Kachnovich was absent from the meeting.
Byron, who also serves as town treasurer, was appointed interim administrative assistant in March following the resignation of Carrie Castonguay.
Castonguay resigned, effective March 18, to take the position of town manager in Belgrade. She was hired July 28, 2014, at a salary of $44,200, plus benefits.
Selectperson Megan Dion said earlier that four candidates submitted applications and were interviewed. Byron was the only candidate who had experience working for a town and was familiar with the TRIO software program used Livermore.
Selectpersons voted to pay Byron $680 per week for the administrative assistant position and $170 per week for her work as treasurer through July 1. An article on the town meeting agenda will ask voters to approve a 1 percent pay raise, effective July 1.
In other business, selectpersons agreed to advertise for a highway foreman. Applications are due by June 17. Earlier this month, highway foreman Gerald Whitney of Wilton was let go after he lost his commercial driver’s license on April 24. Whitney was hired Nov. 16, 2015.
On March 18, he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of operating under the influence.
Benjamin Campbell has been appointed interim highway foreman until a replacement can be found.
