LEWISTON — A fire that heavily damaged a Pettingill Street home Tuesday evening started on a first-floor rear porch, a fire official said Wednesday.
The cause was undetermined, said Paul Ouellette, an inspector for the Lewiston Fire Department.
The fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage, including houses flanking 31 Pettingill St. The neighboring homes sustained heat damage, melted siding, a burned shed and a damaged lawn tractor, Ouellette said.
The owner of the home that burned, John Goddard, said he was alerted to the blaze by his dog, Abby.
No injuries were reported.
