LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus is seeking volunteers for the Alzheimer’s Association’s new Central Maine Social Engagement Committee and for its Money Minders program.

Central Maine Social Engagement Committee volunteers will plan and present one to two social events monthly for eligible persons diagnosed with dementia and their care partners.

There will be an information session from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at 8 Falcon Road. Advance registration is recommended by calling 207-772-0115 or by emailing mpechenik@alz.org.

Volunteers are also wanted for the Money Minders program. In this program, volunteers will be paired with older adults who need help keeping finances in order. The volunteer will visit the client once or twice a month and balance the checkbook and offer other bill-paying services.

Some clients are served on a short-term basis, but the majority are served on a long-term basis. Volunteers are currently needed in Jay, Farmington and Oxford.
