FARMINGTON — Two pharmacists at Franklin Memorial Hospital have recently completed advanced training in anticoagulation and antithrombotic therapy, medications that prevent the blood from clotting as quickly or as effectively as normal. Both pharmacists are certified in anticoagulation therapy management.
Bruce Williamson, RPh, completed the six-week anticoagulation therapy management certificate program offered by the University of Southern Indiana College of Nursing and Health Professions. Williamson has been a pharmacist at FMH since April 2008.
Maria-Ausilia Evans, PharmD, completed the antithrombotic traineeship from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, a focused five-month postgraduate program for pharmacists. Evans has been a pharmacist at FMH since May 2014.
According to Garry Miller, FMH pharmacy director, the training and certification of the pharmacists is the first milestone in a project designed to eventually offer outpatient anticoagulation management services at FMH.
