NEW SHARON — A New Hampshire man is facing charges of drug possession and refusing to submit to arrest after he was stopped Sunday on Starks Road, Maine State Police Trooper Niles Krech said.

Thomas S. Daigle, 22, of Madbury, N.H., was stopped for speeding as he drove from Harry’s Hoe Down 2016, a weekend festival at Harry Brown’s Farm in Starks, Krech said. He said he noticed items in the car and asked Daigle and his passenger to step out of the car so he could search it.

The passenger cooperated, but Daigle refused to get out, asking why the car was being searched, and locked the door.

Krech said he went around to the driver’s side and when he attempted to reach in to unlock the door, Daigle grabbed his hand and started to roll the window up.

Another trooper arrived and Daigle was arrested and taken to Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington where he was later released on $1,000 cash bail.

Marijuana, hashish and drug paraphernalia were found in the car, Krech said.
