ANDOVER — A special town meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the Town Hall to decide whether to take $17,229 from the land purchase account to complete the property revaluation.

Selectman Jane Rich said the revaluation is estimated to cost $80,000 and the town has saved $63,000 toward it. She said Treasurer Barbara Simmons discovered $19,229 in a land purchase account that was not earmarked for anything.

“We need permission from the town to transfer part of (the funds) to the reval, and part of it to the upgrade of the transfer station burn pit,” Rich said. The wall to the burn pit is not tall enough to prevent people from backing into it, she said.

The town will vote on whether to appropriate $5,000 to rebuild the pit by raising $3,000 and transferring $2,000 from the land purchase account.

The third issue at the meeting is whether to raise or appropriate $15,000 for Andover Fire Department’s Fire Engine 43. During a selectmen meeting June 28, selectmen and Fire Chief Justin Tibbetts discussed an estimate for repairs to the engine’s pumper and a new tank for it.

Andover has two other pumper firetrucks to use, Tibbetts added.
