NEWRY – Sunday River Ski Resort has hired a Gould Academy alpine coach as the director of its new Snow Sports School, spokeswoman Darcy Lambert said.
Erickson has worked in the ski industry for more than 35 years. He served as a Professional Ski Instructor of America examiner, an alpine coach at Gould Academy, and a coach for Sunday River’s Perfect Turn Ski and Snowboard School.
Lambert said the Snow Sports School is an “evolution” of Sunday River’s Perfect Turn Ski and Snowboard School, and there may be new programs added to the school.
Erickson will oversee seasonal operations, including day and season-long programs for children and adults, learn-to-ski and -snowboard clinics, and the resort’s Someday Bigger Daycare.
“Matt returns to Sunday River with a wealth of new ideas to bring training and safety to the forefront for our coaches, while continuing to enhance the guest learning experience,” Jeff Rosenberg, vice president of skier services at Sunday River.
Lambert said Erickson will likely begin as Snow Sports School director shortly before the start of the winter season.
